Happy 4th of July to the World
by Rebecca Mance on 06/28/13
Greetings
and best wishes to family, friends and fans!
Happy 4th of July! This year will find me watching fireworks from the
Liberty Ship Jeremiah O’Brien at the Pier in San Francisco. That is going to be
a tremendous experience. Tickets were only $25! What a find. Corn dogs, a Coke
and chips (with lots of fat and salt not currently banned in SF) in basket are
going to round out the experience. Only things missing are my husband, son and
dogs. But next year…..
The summer has been a blessing. The release of Silent Magic Music has meant new readers for me. Silent Magic Music ranked near number one during promotion in the "witches and wizards" genre of romance (I do not know what the end rank was because I didn't stay up late enough). This is super exciting for me.
From trends of my sales, my new "witches and wizards (and angels)" readers have translated into an increase for all my books. I am humbled and honored. Thank you to all of you.
For fellow Indie writers and for anyone who has tried to do something really hard. Keep believing, keep working, take positive steps every day, even when every odd is against you.One day, you wake up and all over the world people buy your books every day.And you can’t believe it, because you are so ordinary. And a lot dumb, sometimes. And crazy other times. And you did it with no budget and with editors that are really just kind friends that believe in you.
Because of
you, my family, fans and friends, I can write the books I want to write. Never
perfect, but then, perfection is a journey that never has an ending. And you
will never finish a book if you chase it forever….I once again say that I could
not have done it without my family, friends and everyone all over the world
that gave a nobody-author a chance.
Upcoming book is writing itself. Well, practically writing itself, while I
commute. When I get a seat. Privacy screen is a must when writing steaming
scenes!
Can't give
too much away about the new book, but the original theme got knocked to its
side by my editor and friend, Liz. Brainstorming over margaritas at Rosa
Mexicana (in SF) with her and my other partner in crime Cindi has proven to be
a fantastic inspiration.
Liz wanted a sequel to The Letter. And I simply didn’t have one in my
head. Liz also wanted revenge on Faith…so we will know her fate finally…
Liz, like a couple of other fans, was upset that certain characters in The Letter didn’t have a name (and she gave them names!). The characters without names have just now proven to be a God-send for the new book.
At least one of them gets a name. Liz. One day, while riding on BART, I realized current book actually could be a sequel.....One thing led to another and now the book has taken on a life of its own. However, it is not a direct sequel. It is several generations later...modern day.
I am going to incorporate in the new book an event near and dear to my heart, the Concourse d’Elegance at Pebble Beach, there will be an entire chapter so I will be there wearing my Derby hat and dress, if all goes well on August 18, 2013. I've got to take the journey of my characters. Who knew there was a connection between Kentucky and California....The Derby hats!
The only major hint on the book (besides Pebble Beach) is “Shades of The Letter.”
Thanks and many blessings to all of you for a safe, healthy, blessed and happy summer. Happy 4th of July to all of my fans all over the world.
Yes. The 4th of July belongs to all of us, it should be a world holiday...about liberty...about Freedom's front door, about so many things. My sisters and if you've read my books, you know who you are "my dear sisters"...and about how much I love all of you. If you have read my books, it makes sense. Thank you to all of you.
And if you can't be here on the Liberty Ship in physical form...I know I will feel your spirit on the Liberty ship Jeremiah O'Brien..
She is an old girl with an old story. And I cannot wait to board her and walk through history. History is also the future. Not to worry. The past is the future.
Thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. Happy 4th and have a fantastic summer. Look for the good in your world. It is there. The good is in each of us and in others if we want to see it. And when you find it, look even more for a better good. And always be your better best.
Thank all of you...all over the world...Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Australia, of course, my beloved Ireland, Netherlands, China, Japan, India. everywhere...United States, I can take for granted, just that bit...I love all of you with all of my heart. Thank you for reading my books. I am so humbled and honored.
Kind and sincere regards,
