Rebecca's Romance

Silent Magic Music and Iron Horse King

by Rebecca Mance on 05/26/13

Okay, I admit that I gave money to the Derby (rather than winning bets).  I hope I am a better writer than I am in picking the winning horse...even if I did pick I'll Have Another last year...

Anyway, in honor of all vets, especially the ones not with us today, I thank you and your families with all that I am.  Thank you God my two vets are with me...or at least in Kentucky without me...but with me in spirit...

I can't do much to honor the sacrifice of others... but I can do something....so I give the thing that matters most to me...with my heart...

I am putting two books on promotion...which means free...yes...my new book Silent Magic Music...which is a completely different book..just released...out for free.  Who knew it was even out?  The rare few following my blog....I hope it is like a rare wine....so you get it when nobody else knows...and I am doing Iron Horse King...because I love that book...though friends would argue The Letter and The Chosen One are better...

Silent Magic Music is a book that is really different.   But I had fun, even if it was difficult and took me a while to complete.  And am waiting to hear from two important editors....so early free will be different than paid later....(life of an Indie writer!)  that is kind of fun...It took me long to complete because I had to set up a second home in California.  I miss my husband, son, and of course my dogs...my chickens...but life and fate have taken me back to the bay area...and writing book number 6...about wine...outline being written on the beautiful patio of a lovely apartment with lots of plants rather than a Kentucky Farm...I like to think I am a Renaissance writer and person...so I can take each journey...after wine book....I am going to Venice...in a book, I mean.

But I give to you...my followers...mostly from other parts of the world...UK (OMG)...Saudi Arabia (OMG)...France (OMG)...Romania!!(OMG) and my, of course, my US followers...always and first, even if my international followers beat your numbers....

Kentucky...shout out...please get Pearse Lyons to send Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale to California...!

Thank you to everyone...let us work together to make the world a better place.  K?  That is my free book...to remember those that died for a greater good, the soldiers of all US wars,...and to the rest of us, to make sure we are working to make the world better....to get along better, to not be mean, in small ways and big.

To that end, I give the best gift I have...my writing.  Thank you to my fans...all over the world.

Thank  you.

KENTUCKY DERBY!

by Rebecca Mance on 04/29/13

Kentucky Derby!  That means, Once Upon a Misty Bluegrass Hill is on promotion for Derby weekend, starting May 3!  Ironically, we have a female jockey in the Derby this year!  Yes...this girl will be there...with her friend and editor Nancy and her husband Rick (my other editor friend came last year...Debbie and set me up with Derby picks!)  She loves Calvin Borel.  So, I might go with Revolutionary...but she also gave me Normandy Invasion, Orb and Verruzano.  You know I would go with the horse in my book..."Big Storm"....I wonder which one the girl jockey is riding...maybe I'll put some money on that one too!  Derby or Bust!  I am working in California and finishing the last book.  But it will have to wait until after Derby Day.  Get ready for Old Kentucky Home, some Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale...and a derby hat.  I'll wave if the camera comes my way!  I'll be the girl with the flowered dress and hat!  I hear it will rain so I am packing boots.  Thank you to all my fans and followers, friends, editors and everyone who buys my books.  It has been an amazing year and I thank you.  In honor of the Derby, Once Upon a Misty Bluegrass is free for Derby weekend.  Will we have a triple crown?  Mint Julip anyone?

Thank you to all my fans, followers, friends, editors and everyone who buys my books.  It has been an amazing year The Chosen One is still blasting out in UK...thank you so much...now Iron Horse King has started moving in UK and so has Misty Bluegrass...and picked up in US sales too...and I thank you...I thank you so much.  In honor of the Derby and to thank those who have purchased my books...I offer ..... Once Upon a Misty Bluegrass Hill FREE for Derby weekend.  Prayers all around that everyone is safe and that all horses cross the finish without any injury...living out their best day...whatever that day brings.  The Kentucky Derby and the horses are one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had.  To hear the thunder and see those horses coming around the turn...you can feel their power...it is tangible and utterly amazing.

Question is.....Will we have a triple crown?  Mint Julip anyone?  Love and Hugs to family, friends and my fans.  Thank you for everything.

Happy New Year, Blessings, most of all Thank you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR. Greetings from the Bluegrass, home of Kentucky Derby.  Sending all that read my blog the best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous new year, filled with dreams that come true.

Thank you United Kingdom.  Many sincere thanks, once again, for putting The Chosen One and Iron Horse King on the top of your list!  I sold more books last year in Europe than in the US.  Thanks to your support I think I am helping the trade deficit and am especially happy to be being paid in Pounds.  I really cannot believe how good the United Kingdom is to me and I really, really appreciate it.  In some fantasy I am wishing to get back to London, Scotland, Ireland and Paris in 2013 if I am very lucky.

Even if I cannot make it back (the dollar is really weak right now) I am thankful for your support.  Great reviews on Iron Horse King (thank you reader in South Carolina and Australia.  It makes me feel blessed and reminds me how lucky I am.  Oh, I will not forget my last fantastic review on The Letter, thank you so much for that amazing review, that book got dogged at first, so a good review means a lot.

It also makes me being a writer REAL in my own head.  It was a long journey to get to this place and I cannot believe I am here.  But when I get those kinds of reviews, yes, I do cry with joy because it means I am a real writer.  Thank you so much to all of my fans, family and dear friends that give me support, kind words and editing help.  I could not do it without you.  I am working on my  Magic themed book and have a goal to have it out by February 12, 2013.

Plug for Once Upon A Misty Bluegrass my last book.  Words for this book - patriotic, Kentucky Derby, Irishman hunk, moonshine, mist on the bluegrass, rainstorms - so much more.

Oh and THANK YOU AMAZON FOR MY PROMOTION ON CHRISTMAS DAY.  I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT.  OH MY GOSH.  MY BOOK WAS ACTUALLY IN THE RE LINE.

Thank you fellow Indie writers for providing inspiration as well.  I have read some fantastic new authors with really amazing new stuff.  (That sometimes makes me jealous in a good way but also makes me know that I must work that much harder). I found Julie Anne Long this year and reading her almost made me want to quit writing because she is that good.  Yet, I soak up every book and am inspired that after reading romance my whole life, I see someone come out of the gate and just blow the genre away.  So, I need to work harder to compete and I will, all while enjoying the new Indie writers that help add texture to my own writing and enjoyment to my life.

Thanks again to everyone that has taken my writing journey with me, supported me, gave me kind words and just gave my books a chance. I send blessings and thanks again to everyone that made 2012 so fantastic.  2013 is starting out better than even last year and I am too beside myself to put my feelings to words. Except to say thank you, once again.

Great Review On The Letter! And Current Book.

by Rebecca Mance on 11/02/12

It is pretty exciting to get an incredible review on The Letter that is well thought out by someone who loved the book.  Yes, it is true I do use ten dollar words. I just get bored with the same old words and so I have a bit of fun from time to time.  Anyway, a review like that is always so wonderful and so appreciated.  Wow. I am starting to think I may well be a bestselling author sooner than I thought!  Not just on one book because I thought Iron Horse King and Once Upon A Misty Bluegrass Hill were my best books, but maybe The Letter because it just grabs people in a way I never expected.

And The Chosen One is having amazing success. my best seller at the moment (Iron Horse King is number 2) and it is really, really doing will in the United Kingdom.  Thank you again friends from across the pond!  I sell more books now in the UK than the US! It is so wonderful!  I really cannot believe what a year this has been.  I am humbled and thankful. It has been beyond my dreams.

Working on the next book right now -- his one will have magic involved -- which is new for me.  This is the first book that is paranormal -- I love magic in book -- so now I am going to try my own hand at writing some magic romance.  I feel like it is just now starting to come together--- without distractions and some hard work I could finish this one by Christmas. After that I am continuing the American Royalty series.  I have the next American Royalty book is started but it doesn't get as much work as the "magic book" right now.

"Champaign" was not my editors' fault

by Rebecca Mance on 08/23/12

No, it was not the fault of my editors that I had "Champaign" (really champagne!)wrong in Misty Bluegrass.  The two that did the page edits told me....but I was stubborn...remembering that real "Champaign" came from a region of France (and I am learning French so I am fixed on this notion) and spell check didn't like their versions....just forgot to follow up and chase it down before publishing.....anyway, I have decided that my characters would probably drink American "Sparkling Wine"...so it was my omin to change this.  I had in mind my two places in Napa, California I love....Chandon and of course Mumms (Mumms M Cuvee!)  Yum.  I probably spelled that wrong too!  Anyway, my editors are the best, it was my fault I didn't heed their advice without question.
